Hawkeyes Compete at NCAA Championships

Fayetteville, AR –

Two members of the University of Iowa women’s track and field team competed at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. Senior Shellene Williams ran in the 200 and 400 meter preliminaries while senior Michelle Lahann competed in the 800 meter preliminaries.

Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, both athletes failed to make the finals in their event. Williams came close in the 400 meters, placing second in her heat with a time of 53.00. Williams finished fourth in her heat of the 200 meters, finishing the event in 23.98. Lahann placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.21.

Freshman Peaches Roach will compete in the high jump on Saturday at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with the high jump slated for a 4:45 p.m. start.
