THIS WEEK — The Hawkeye men’s track team will send competitiors to the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, TN, April 9-10, and the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, IA, April 10. Sea Ray Relays events are scheduled to start at 8:45 a.m. Friday and 9:15 a.m. Saturday, and will be held at Tom Black Track. Jim Duncan Invitational events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Jim Duncan Track at Drake Stadium.
LAST WEEK — Iowa crowned two champions and qualified three competitors for the NCAA Mid-West regional at the Missouri Relays in Columbia, MO. Seniors Brad Daufeldt and Ken Kemeny, and sophomore Adam Hamilton qualified for the regional meet for the second consecutive week. Hamilton qualified in the hammer, Kemeny in the shot put and Daufeldt in the hammer and discus. Hamilton placed second in the hammer with a personal-best throw of 198-4, while Daufeldt won the discus (169-8) and placed third in the hammer (197-7). Kemeny placed third in the shot put (57-8 1/2). Sophomore Joel Storm was Iowa’s other event winner, taking the javelin title with a personal-best throw of 202-0.
NCAA REGIONAL QUALIFIERS — The Hawkeyes have qualified four individuals to the NCAA Mid-West Regional Championships, which will be held May 28-29 in Austin, TX. Their events, qualifying marks and where they rank in the Big Ten, region and nation are listed below.

HAWKEYE COACHES — Larry Wieczorek is in his eighth year as Iowa’s men’s head track coach. As a runner, Wieczorek was a six-time Big Ten champion for Iowa, winning four track and two cross country titles. He was also a four-time all-American. In 1998, Wieczorek was inducted into the National Iowa Varsity Club Hall of Fame. He is assisted by former Iowa all-American and world-class 400-meter hurdler Pat McGhee and three-time all-American and two-time Big Ten shot put champion Scott Cappos.
NEXT COMPETITION — The Hawkeye men’s and women’s teams will comepte at the co-ed UNI Twilight meet April 17 in Cedar Falls. The meet is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will be held at UNI outdoor complex.
