Nine Hawkeyes Named to Academic All-Big Ten

The Big Ten Conference has announced that a league-best 53 University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2004 winter Academic all-Conference team. The list includes student-athletes from men’s basketball (3), women’s basketball (8), men’s gymnastics (6), women’s gymnastics (8), men’s swimming (9), women’s swimming (12) and wrestling (7).

To be eligible for an academic all-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade point average of 3.0 or better.

The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team had nine members of their team named to the academic all-Big Ten team. This included senior Jason Snider who was announced to the team for his third consecutive season. Snider will graduate this spring with a degree in Finance, while currently carrying a 3.99 GPA.
