THIS WEEK — The Hawkeyes will travel to East Lansing, MI this weekend to compete in the 54-hole Bruce Fossum/Taylor Made Invitational. The event, hosted by Michigan State, will consist of two rounds on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round beginning at 9 a.m. Tournament play is being held at the Forest Akers West Golf Course. All Big Ten teams will be competing with the exception of Penn State and Purdue, giving the Hawkeyes a final chance to check out conference opponents before the Big Ten Championships, May 7-9.

LAST WEEK — Iowa finished 14th at the First Energy Intercollegiate in Akron, OH. The Hawkeyes put up their lowest team total (909) since the Bearkat Invitational in March. Cade Pleggenkuhle led the way for Iowa, finishing in a tie for 17th with his lowest three-round total of the year (218).

THIS WEEK’S ROSTER — Traveling to East Lansing will be senior Cade Pleggenkuhle, sophomore Andy Tiedt and freshmen Bennet Hammerberg, Jon Feldick and Todd Larson.

QUOTING COACH ANDERSON — “Last week was sort of typical of our year so far. We’ve had one or two guys play well, and the rest not so well. To be competitive we need four guys. We should have, and could have, shot lower, but last week was still an improvement. Cade (Pleggenkuhle) played very well. He had a bogie and a double bogie early in his final round and was just unable to get back to even. This weekend will be a great chance for us to prepare for the Big Ten meet. That’s the main thing we have to concentrate on now.”

COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 11th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson lettered four times in golf at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. The Iowa Golf Association named him 1998 PGA Professional of the Year to get back to even.
