Sales of single-game football tickets for the Iowa-Iowa State and Iowa-Ohio State contests in historic Kinnick Stadium this fall have been suspended. The announcement was made today by Iowa Ticket Manager, Dave Sandstrum.
The only current way to be assured of getting game tickets for those two home games of the 2004 Iowa Hawkeyes is to purchase a season ticket. Season tickets remain on sale at the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and online.
“Our ticket sales have been tremendous,” said Sandstrum. “But in order to satisfy our season ticket buyers, we had to suspend single game sales. It’s possible we’ll reopen sales as we get closer to the season opener.”
The UI has already sold 4,000 more season tickets (general public, UI faculty and staff, and UI student) for the coming Iowa football season compared to this time a year ago with the largest increase coming among general public season tickets where the UI is up over 3,200.
The Hawkeyes open their 2004 home season Sept. 4 against Kent State in the “Throwback Game” and host Iowa State the following week. Iowa also plays home games agaist Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin during the 2004 season.
