Iowa’s nationally ranked football team will scrimmage Saturday in Kinnick Stadium and it’s open to the public at no charge. Head Coach Kirk Ferentz made the announcement today.
The Hawkeyes are expected to warm up about 10:30 a.m. with the actual scrimmage set to begin close to 11 a.m. The scrimmage will last about 90 minutes. Iowa is ranked 12th in the USA Today/ESPN poll and 19th by the Associated Press.
“This is good situation for a couple of reasons,” said Ferentz. “It gives us a chance to pay back a little something to our great fans. We’re able to give some fans that can’t otherwise see us play a chance to experience Hawkeye football at no charge. It also gives some of our younger players the chance to play in front of a crowd. I’m hoping for a nice turnout Saturday.”
The west side of Kinnick Stadium will be open to those attending. Gates on the west side of the stadium will open at 9:30 a.m.
