Coach Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa Hawkeyes slipped to No. 24 in this week’s ESPN/USA Top 25 after suffering a one-sided loss at Arizona State Saturday night. The Hawkeyes entered that contest ranked 12th in the nation by the coaches. Iowa fell out of the weekly Associated Press poll. The Hawkeyes were No. 16 in that list last week.
The Hawkeyes will travel to No. 18 Michigan Saturday for each team’s 2004 Big Ten Conference season opener. Both teams will take 2-1 records into the game. Iowa will be seeking its third straight victory in the series and second in a row in Michigan Stadium.
Game time in Ann Arbor next week is set for 2:30 p.m. Iowa time. The game will be televised live to a regional audience by ABC Sports.
Iowa continues to be one of six Big Ten teams included in ESPN’s elite list.
