IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa men’s and women’s golf teams both improved upon their play yesterday to climb up both leader boards. The Iowa women are leading the field after the second day of competition, posting a score of 311, to lead Northern Iowa by six strokes going into the final day. The men are just two strokes behind Southwest Missouri State in second.
Brian deBuhr fired another under-par round to finish the day in a tie for second, just one stroke behind the leader Jeff Berkshire of Drake. Luke Miller carded a one-under 71 today to finish in a tie for tenth. Todd Larson and Andy Teidt are tied for 19th with two round totals of 150. John Feldick is tied for 35th with a 156.
For the women, Liz Bennett fired a 70 in her second round to take over the lead in the individual standings. Jill Marcum is in eighth with a 36-hole total of 160. Amy Riepma improved on her first day total by ten strokes to finish the day all the way up to a tie for 14th. Karla Murra is tied for 16th, she shot an 82 today, giving her a two-day total of 165. Brittany Lambert has carded a 168 in two days of competition and is tied for 23rd.
Competition will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at Finkbine Golf Course.
