Kirk Ferentz opened his weekly visit with media joking why the get-together was even scheduled…it was the bye week afterall. However, there was lots to talk about, ranging from Iowa’s bad luck with injuries, progress on and off the field by a variety of Hawkeyes, and what’s ahead for his 2004 Iowa squad.
Iowa’s next game is Oct. 16 against Ohio State inside historic Kinnick Stadium. A very limited number of tickets — mostly “singles” — are available for purchase.

He also said Iowa finds itself in a “running back by committee” situation and “unlike some, it’s a rather small committee.” Heading that group is junior Marques Simmons, who had good outings both last Saturday versus Michigan State and at Arizona State, according to Ferentz.
