The Iowa women’s gymnastics program is ranked 17th in the nation, according to the GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll. The GymHawks received 196 points.
UCLA took top honors in the poll with 608 points and 15 first-place votes. Georgia, Stanford, Alabama, Utah and Florida all received first-place votes as well.
Two other Big Ten schools made the top 25, including defending-Big Ten Champion Michigan, ranked seventh, and Penn State at 19th. The remaining Big Ten schools all received votes in the poll.
The GymHawks will have one of the toughest schedules in the nation as they compete against nine top 25 teams, including No. 2 Georgia, No. 4 Alabama, and No. 6 Florida. Iowa opens the season January 8 when they travel to Gainesville, FL for the Super Six Challenge.
