University of Iowa diver Nancilea Underwood has been selected to represent the United States in two prestigious diving competitions.
Underwood will travel to Zhuhai, China to compete in the China Open March 1-6. She will be competing in the three-meter and three-meter synchro events.
On May 12-15, Underwood will compete in the FINA U.S. Diving Grand Prix in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a meet that she placed sixth in at the three-meter semifinal in 2004. Iowa Diving Coach Bob Rydze will serve as a team leader this year.
Underwood, a junior from Spring, TX, has recorded three first-place finishes thus far this season and set a new University of Iowa record of 348.25 in the three-meter diving event against Truman State on November 12, 2004. Underwood has also won Big Ten Diver of the Week honors twice this season.
