Underwood Qualifies for NCAAs on Three-Meter

West Lafayette, IN — University of Iowa diver Nancilea Underwood qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships Friday at the NCAA Zone C qualifying meet. The competition was held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, IN.

The junior took top honors in the women’s three-meter competition with a score of 560.30. Underwood and Carrie McCambridge of Purdue automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Senior Lisette Planken finished in fifth place with a score of 508.85. Planken will have to wait until tomorrow’s competition to see if she qualifies for the NCAA Championships on three-meter.

Iowa will continue competition at the qualifying meet on Saturday, with Planken and Underwood competing on the one-meter board.
