THIS WEEK — The Iowa Men’s Golf team will begin competition at the Boilermaker Invitational Friday. This two-day event will consist of 12 teams and is hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, IN. There will be 36 holes played on Saturday and conclude with 18 holes on Sunday. The other teams that Iowa will face are Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa State, Missouri, Northern Illinois, Wichita State, and Texas – Pan American.

LAST TIME OUT — The Iowa Men’s Golf team finished 13th in the Pioneer Classic on March 15. The Hawkeyes finished with a 54-hole team score of 887. Wichita State (821) won the tournament by 37 strokes over second-place Northern Colorado (858). Two of Iowa’s top finishers competed as individuals, so their scores did not count towards the Hawkeyes’ team total. Sophomore Bennet Hammerberg tied for 31st with a two-over par 218 (72-74-72), while freshman Dan Holterhaus tied for 35th with a three-over par 219 (73-74-72). Sophomore Todd Larson also tied for 35th with a three-over par 219 (72-71-76). Junior Luke Miller tied for 43rd with a five-over par 221 (72-75-74). Wichita State’s Judd Easterling won the tournament start-to-finish, carding a blistering 21-under par 195 (66-65-64).

MILLER OUT WITH INJURY — Junior Luke Miller will not compete due to a sprained ankle. This will be the first tournament that he has not competed in this season and currently leads the team with 73.9 strokes per round average. Coach Terry Anderson commented that he should return for the next competition.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 12th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004.
