A Little Electrical Power, Please

April 20, 2005

Today’s lesson, Hawk fans, is all about electricity.

Seriously, the latest additions to the photo gallery inside kinnickrenovation.com, the official world wide web site of the multi-million dollar renovation of historic Kinnick Stadium, track the installation of “electrical switch gears” in the electrical vault located in the southwest corner of the new south grandstand.

Season tickets to the six home games of the 2005 Iowa Hawkeyes are now on sale. To purchase yours, click on the “Tickets” link at hawkeyesports.com, call 1-800 IA-HAWKS or visit the UI Athletic Ticket Office in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

hawkeyesports.com is admittedly not 100 percent certain what “electrical switch gears” are or what they do, but we’re sure they are important and they were recently installed at Kinnick.

For the record, the pace is brisk at the renovation site and, to the delight of everyone involved and those particularly anxious to see what the finished product will look like, masons arrived on the scene earlier this week and began the long and tedious process of installing the brick on the exterior walls. Work began in the southwest corner and will work its way eastward throughout the summer.

And, yes, pictures of that exciting piece of the $89 million renovation are coming.
