Former Iowa baseball Coach Duane Banks will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Iowa’s baseball doubleheader against Penn State Saturday. The Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions will begin play at 2 p.m. in Iowa City.
Banks coached the Hawkeyes for 28 years (1970-97) and won 810 games. He led one of his Iowa teams to the College World Series and won three Big Ten titles. Iowa’s baseball field is named in his honor.
Banks now lives with his wife (Jeanette) in Grand Junction, CO.
The Hawkeyes host North Dakota State tonight before opening a four-game series with Penn State Friday night.
