EAST LANSING, MI – The Iowa Men’s Golf team finished the first two rounds of the Bruce Fossum Invitational in 11th place. They struggled during the first round carding a team score of 310 (+22), which had them in last place. However, a stellar second round of 290 (+2) boosted them to 11th place.
The Hawkeyes performance resembled the one Dan Holterhaus (T11, +2) had. He started slow shooting a 77(+5) before having a tremendous second round when carding a 68(-4). This tied him with the second best round of the day and helping him jump from 49th to 11th place. Other Hawkeyes competing are Jon Feldick (T24, +4), Todd Larson (T41, +6), Brian deBuhr (T72, +13) and Andy Tiedt (80, +18)
Iowa will return to action tomorrow to play the final round of the tournament. The tournament is being held at Forest Akers West Golf Course (Par 72). Live scoring will be available and you can follow the tournament leaderboard Sunday at www.msuspartans.com.
