Six Future Hawkeyes Compete at Junior Olympics

IOWA CITY – Six members of the Iowa volleyball team’s incoming recruiting class participated at the 2005 Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships, held from June 29-July 6 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Catherine Smale, who competed for the Mizuno Sports Performance Red team, earned all-tournament honors in the Girls National Division.

Incoming freshmen Emily Hiza (Colorado Jr. 18 Tom) and Kiley Fister (Fusion 18 Black) each competed in the 18 Open Division. Fister led her team to a fifth-place finish.

Laura Kremer (Court Masters 18-1), Laura Gustin (Impact 18 Lori) and Felicia Booth (Sierra Nevada 18 Oski) all competed in the 18 American Division.

All six recruits, along with incoming freshman Mary Puck, were ranked as the 30th best recruiting class in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com and will join the Hawkeyes this fall.
