Watch Kirk Live

Aug. 5, 2005

Friends of the University of Iowa and fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes desiring the most up-to-date and official information on their favorite team have always used hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the intercollegiate athletics program at the UI, as their No. 1 online source for all the news fit to be printed in black and gold.

Beginning this fall, hawkeyesports.com will move its level of service up a notch by providing live video coverage of the post-game media conferences of Kirk Ferentz, Steve Alford, Lisa Bluder and Jim Zalesky. Fans of the Hawkeyes who subscribe to the “Hawkeyes All-Access” area of hawkeyesports.com will be able to watch live Kirk, Steve, Lisa and Jim’s visits with the media immediately after their home events in Kinnick Stadium and Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

“Hawkeye All-Access” will provide subscribers live video of everything from post-game press conferences to Iowa’s weekly coaches shows.

Fans of the Hawkeyes are invited to sample “Hawkeye All-Access” on Monday when Kirk Ferentz visits with local, regional and national media at the 2005 Iowa Football Media Day. Ferentz’s presentation will begin at 1:15 p.m. and will be available live exclusively on the world wide web inside the “All-Access” area of hawkeyesports.com. This year’s line-up on Hawkeyes All-Access will also include three additional new features:

The Brooks Brothers – Audio features produced for the UI by Iowa Hall of Fame Broadcaster Bob Brooks and his son, Rob. They’ll team to provide two features exclusively available to subscribers of Hawkeyes All-Access – one will be an extended visit with a student-athlete and another will be a look back an important event in the history of athletics at the UI.

What It Boyles Down To – A weekly audio feature from the comic genius of Cedar Rapids funny man Tim Boyle. Boyle, long the morning voice of WMT Radio, does a pretty good imitation of a long, tall Texan who once prowled the sidelines for the Hawkeyes and more. The topic will vary, but it will always bring a smile to your face.

The Hawkeyes compliments of KCRG-TV – A weekly video feature from KCRG-TV Sports Director John Campbell and the staff of eastern Iowa’s No. 1 television sports team.

All this plus every broadcast of Iowa football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball on the Hawkeye Radio Network; each edition of the weekly “Hawk Talk” radio call in shows featuring Kirk, Steve and Lisa; each edition of the weekly television shows for Kirk and Steve and the monthly television specials for Lisa; the weekly one-hour Iowa Football Replay Show; the daily audio feature “Inside Iowa” and much, much, more.

“We’ve seem 100 percent growth in the number of subscribers to the multi-media area of hawkeyesports.com the last two years and we’re optimistic that the features to be added new this year will help us continue that trend,” said Rick Klatt, the UI’s associate athletics director for external affairs.

“The lineup of programming is wide and deep and, in many cases, exclusive. It’s a wonderful resource for both fans of the Hawkeyes living outside the state of Iowa as well as the fan living right here in Iowa City.”

Klatt said a subscriber to Hawkeye All-Access will likely have access to more than 300 pieces of audio and video content during the 2005-06 academic year.

“The number grows every year thanks to the efforts of a lot of different staff and partners. The year-over-year increase in subscribers is clear evidence that we’re providing a service that’s greatly appreciated by a lot of friends and fans of the UI and the Hawkeyes,” said Klatt.
