Hawkeyes Win Exhibition, 2-0

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team defeated Loyola-Chicago on Tuesday, 2-0 in a friendly exhibition at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeye defense was solid in the shutout, allowing only six shots on the evening.

Iowa opened up its scoring account in the 33rd minute when senior Katelyn Quinn blasted a shot after a nice move to create some space just outside the 18-yard box. Iowa had a few more opportunities before halftime but could not find the back of the net.

The Hawkeyes came out aggressive in the second half, recording two shots on goal before Melisa Kaetterhenry knocked in a cross from Jamie Maltman in the 58th minute for the final score.

Iowa’s offense was superb all evening, creating 17 shots and four corners.

Sophomore Lindsey Boldt recorded one save and freshman Erin MacIsaac, who came in as a substitute, recorded one save.

The Hawkeyes officially open up their season on August 26 at Colorado College. Match time is set for 5 p.m.
