Missouri Tops Iowa, 5-0

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team was defeated by Missouri, 5-0 Sunday at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Tigers outshot the Hawkeyes, 20-8.

Missouri jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the third minute when Amber Swineheart knocked in a goal off an assist from Jennifer Nobis. The Tigers added another goal in the sixth minute when Mo Redmond found the back of the net to make the score 2-0 at halftime.

The Hawkeyes came out firing in the second half, but the Tiger defense kept the shutout in tact. Swineheart scored her second goal of the match in the 63rd minute and Nobis followed in the 64th minute with another goal. Missouri added a late goal in the 87th minute that bounced off the post and barely snuck over the goal line to seal the victory.

Senior Katelyn Quinn led the Hawkeye offense, recording three shots. Freshman Stephanie Hyink, senior Whitney Strain and sophomore Kelsie Full along with Quinn added shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Boldt recorded five saves.

The Hawkeyes travel to Springfield Missouri on Friday to face Missouri State. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
