Hawkeyes Set To Play In Memphis Intercollegiate

THIS WEEK — The Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Memphis, TN, to compete in the Memphis Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday at Colonial Country Club. The 54-hole tournament will have 36 holes of play on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. The 36-hole Colonial Country Club is par 72 and 6,991 yards long.

THE COMPETITION — Iowa will compete against Southern Alabama, Tulane, Southern Miss, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, South Florida, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, Marshall, Arkansas-Little Rock, and the host school, Memphis.

LAST TIME OUT — Iowa placed fifth at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, MI. Iowa finished both days in fifth while shooting +2 for the tournament. Cole Peevler led Iowa individually, carding a three round score of -7 to claim a tie for second place.

HEAD COACH Terry Anderson — Anderson is in his 13th year as Iowa’s head coach. Anderson was a four-year letterman at Iowa State. He also serves as the Director of Golf at Iowa’s Finkbine Golf Course. He was named the PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the Iowa PGA Section in 1998 and 2004.

QUOTING COACH ANDERSON — “The goal is to go shoot 288 or better each round as a team. If we do, we will have a chance to win, as that is what it takes at this level to be in the hunt. We are off to a fine start to the season as a team. Individually we have some players that are shooting scores that are getting attention.”
