Hawkeyes Fall To Ohio State, 3-0

Columbus, OH – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team suffered its first loss in Big Ten play this season against Ohio State, 3-0. After a scoreless first half, the Buckeyes scored three goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half for the win.

The Hawkeye defense was solid in the first half, allowing no goals on 12 shots. Iowa’s offense was only able to produce two shots in the half and the game was even at 0-0 heading into halftime.

Ohio State scored its first goal just under a minute and a half into the second period. Lisa Collison scored her eighth goal of the season off a cross to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead. The Buckeyes scored again in the 53rd and 58th minute, including another goal by Collison.

Iowa’s offense struggled in the match, creating only three shots, two of which were on target. Senior Katelyn Quinn had two shots, one of which was on goal. Sophomore Megan Love had the other shot on goal for the Hawkeyes.

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin MacIsaac played the entire 90 minutes in net and registered seven saves.

The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday, October 7 when they travel to Minnesota. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
