The University of Iowa Athletic Department and Hawkeye Radio Network announced today that Shelley Till has been named the new color analyst for Iowa women’s basketball games.
“I am excited to join the Hawkeye broadcast team,” said Till. “I feel very blessed and honored to work with such extraordinary people as Coach Bluder, her staff, and players.”
“We are excited to welcome Shelley Till to our broadcast team,” said Hawkeye Sports Properties General Manager Eric Buchanan. “Her experience as both a Division I player and coach will provide our listeners with expert analysis and commentary. The combination of Shelley and Brent Balbinot will give Hawkeye fans an enjoyable listening experience throughout the season.”
Shelley (Bardon) Till is a graduate of Western Dubuque High School where her team won the 1987 State Basketball Championship. Till went on to play at Drake where she was a teammate of current Iowa coaches Jan Jensen and Jenni Fitzgerald in 1987-88.
Till jumped into the coaching ranks at Cedar Falls High School during her years at Northern Iowa, where she graduated in 1991. The native of Epworth, IA, has also served as an assistant coach at Bradley for one season (1995-96) and the head coach at UW-Platteville for two years (1996-98). Till’s last coaching stint came as head varsity basketball coach at Dubuque Senior High School for three seasons (2000-03). Till currently coaches a youth girls’ travel team.
Since 2003, Till owns her own coaching and speaking business, offering professional speaking, individual and group coaching, and workshop facilitation. She was a Mediacom color commentator for high school basketball and volleyball telecasts in Eastern Iowa and also hosted her own talk show. Shelley is married to Marty. They reside in Dubuque, IA, with their two children Claire (11) and Riley (8).
Every regular season and post season Iowa Women’s Basketball game will be broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network.
