“Kirk Ferentz had just finished conducting his weekly press conference Tuesday when a familiar face stopped by to say hello,” Pat Harty writes in today’s editions of the Iowa City Press-Citizen.
“Former Iowa tight end Dallas Clark was driving back to Indiana to resume his life as a member of the undefeated Indianapolis Colts. Dallas had spent the past few days with his fiancé visiting family and friends in northern Iowa.
“He was able to take a break from his hectic schedule because the Colts had a bye last week.
“If you come to Iowa, you’re going to leave a better football player. And that’s what college football is all about. You want to have a great experience, but you want to get better.”

“And though Iowa City is on the way to Indianapolis, you get the feeling that Dallas would have gone out of his way to see his former college coach.
“You could feel the mutual respect and admiration as he and Ferentz chatted for about 10 minutes before embracing. It’s hard not to respect somebody who changed your life for the better.
