PARK RIDGE, IL – –The Big Ten Conference announced that all-session tickets for the 2006 Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments, along with single-session tickets for the men’s event are on sale.
The city of Indianapolis and Conseco Fieldhouse will host both the men’s and women’s tournaments on back-to-back weeks for the third time in league history, following successful two-week events in 2002 and 2004. The 12th annual women’s event will be back in Indianapolis from March 2-6, 2006, while the ninth annual men’s tournament will return to Conseco Fieldhouse from March 9-12, 2006. All-session and single-session tickets for the men’s tournament, which includes 10 games over four days, will be available at the Conseco Fieldhouse box office, Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (317) 239-5151 (in central Indiana). The cost for men’s tournament all-session tickets will be either $125 or $225 depending on seat location, while the single-session tickets range from $25 to $75 based on seat location and session. Orders for the men’s tournament will be limited to 12 all-session tickets or 12 single-session tickets for each session.
After a one-year hiatus, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament returns to Indianapolis to crown the 2006 tournament champion. Conseco Fieldhouse attracted more than 170,000 patrons in 2002 and 2004, including four sellouts. In its first eight years of existence, the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament has welcomed more than 780,000 fans and issued over 4,800 media credentials. Six different league representatives have become Big Ten Tournament champions, with Illinois and Michigan State claiming the honor twice, along with triumphs by Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

The Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament returns to Indianapolis for the 11th time in 12 years and has attracted more than 30,000 fans for each of the last four events. Just two years ago, the Big Ten set a pair of attendance records when the 2004 championship game was played in front of a single-session record of 9,417 fans, which established an overall tournament record of 37,635 spectators. In the past 11 years of Big Ten Tournament play, the conference has welcomed more than 314,000 fans. Five different league representatives have become tournament champions. Purdue leads all teams with five titles followed by two championships for both Iowa and Penn State and a single title for Indiana and Michigan State.
