IOWA CITY – Three top gymnasts have signed letters on intent to attend Iowa in 2006, Head Coach Tom Dunn announced earlier this week. Jonathon Buese, Joel Snyder and Dusty Carnmer all plan to join the Hawkeye squad.

Jonathon Buese hails from Gainesville, FL. He will join his brother, Iowa sophomore Tom Buese. Buese is a strong All-Around gymnast who qualified for the U.S. Championships in 2004 and 2005. He is a Region 8 All-Around, Pommel Horse, Rings and Vault champion. Buese is a Florida State Champion on Vault, and a Jr. National finalist on Parallel Bars, Rings and Floor Exercise. In the U.S. National Qualifier this past summer, Buese finished second on Floor Exercise and third on Rings and Horizontal Bar.

Joel Snyder is from Vernon Hills, IL, and is a three-time Academic All-American from Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Snyder competes for the number one boy’s gymnastics team in Illinois, the Buffalo Grove Gymnastics Center. His coach, Kelly Crumley, is a 1982 Iowa graduate. Snyder is the 2005 Region 5 Champion on Pommel Horse. He qualified in the All-Around for the 2004 U.S. Championships and finished fifth in the nation on the Horizontal Bar.

Dusty Cranmer is from Evans City, PA. He trains at the Butler Gymnastics Club and is an honor roll student at Seneca Valley High School. In 2005, he finished 22nd in the All-Around at the Jr. National meet. He was a Jr. National finalist on Parallel Bars in 2004 and 2005, finishing second this past spring.

“We are very excited about this recruiting class,” said Coach Dunn. “Jon, Joel and Dusty all have complementary areas of strength that will balance future Hawkeye weaknesses. This is perhaps the most balanced recruiting class we have ever had.”
