Iowa (4-2) will face sixth-ranked Rutgers (4-0) Sunday at 2:15 p.m. in the championship game of the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge. Sunday’s will be the 300th women’s game played in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The arena opened in January 1983.

Senior Crystal Smith led Iowa in scoring for the fifth-straight contest. The Big Ten’s leading scorer poured in a game-high 26 points on 8-12 shooting from the field, including 3-4 from 3-point range and 7-8 from the foul line. Smith also collected four rebounds and three assists and matched a career high with six steals.
Sophomore Stacy Schlapkohl matched season bests in points (12) and rebounds (7). She also dished out three assists.
Iowa drained seven triples, marking the third-consecutive contest it made seven or more 3-pointers. Iowa shot at a 58.3 percent (7-12) clip from behind the arc today. The Hawkeyes rank second in Big Ten triples made.
Iowa was 22-34 (.647) from the free throw line today. Conversely, Vermont only made 13 tripes to the foul line, making nine (.692). The 13 free throw attempts by the Catamounts is an Iowa opponent season low.
Iowa out-rebounded its third-straight opponent, pulling down 45 boards compared to Vermont’s 33.
Iowa improved to 3-0 in home games and 4-1 when leading at the half.
The Hawkeyes limited the Catamounts to only 32.2 percent (20-62) shooting from the field.
Iowa’s Wendy Ausdemore and Kristi Smith scored the same amount of points for the second-straight game. The freshmen duo both scored 10 points vs. UW-Green Bay on Wednesday and both netted eight points against Vermont today.
