Tonight’s officials (Cameron Onouye, Bryan Enterline and Ernie Solis) are the exact same crew that worked the Iowa at Iowa State double overtime thriller two years ago at Hilton Coliseum.

Iowa has lost its last five games in Hilton Coliseum. The Hawkeyes’ last win at Iowa State was in 1989. The home team has won the last five games in the series that Iowa leads 20-16.

Tonight’s win increases Iowa State’s lead in the second annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series to 7-2. Iowa State hosts Iowa in men’s basketball tomorrow night.

Last year Iowa was 5-0 when Krista VandeVenter pulled down double digit rebounds. The Hawkeyes are 0-3 this season when pulling down double figure rebounds. VandeVenter matched a career hogh with 14 rebounds tonight. She also netted all of her 12 points in the second period, collecting her fourth career double-double.

Tonight was a game of runs. Iowa posted runs of 9-2 and 9-0, while Iowa State registered 11-0, 21-2 and 15-3 runs. During the Cyclones’ 21-2 run, Iowa State scored 17-straight points. Iowa failed to score in 6:01 during that stretch.

Senior Tiffany Reedy matched a season high with 13 points tonight. Reedy made her first three field goal attempts, all 3-point attempts, but finished the contest missing her last eight from the floor, including four from behind the arc.

After failing to make at least one 3-pointer in its last game vs. No. 6 Rutgers, the Hawkeyes made seven tonight.

All of Iowa’s bench points were scored by freshmen. Megan Skouby netted eight points, Kristi Smith tallied six and Wendy Ausdemore added two.
