No Miracle This Time

The Bowl Game

More About Iowa Football

“Nearly 25,000 Iowa football fans soaked up plenty of Florida sun on Monday waiting for quarterback Drew Tate to deliver another miracle,” writes Steve Batterson in today’s editions of the Quad Cities Times.

“But it never happened.”

It’s the day after Iowa’s chance to make history was cut short when officials ruled the Hawkeyes offsides on a successful onsides kickoff that would have given Tate more than 70 seconds to move the UI about 43 yards to paydirt and, perhaps, overtime.

“The Hawkeyes did rally from a 31-7 deficit in the fourth quarter, but fell short in a 31-24 loss to Florida at the Outback Bowl.”

” `I guess it wasn’t meant to be,’ said Tate, who hit a 56-yard touchdown pass as time expired a year earlier to give Iowa a win over Louisiana State in the Capital One Bowl.”
