Feb. 8, 2006

PARK RIDGE – – The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday the selection of the Iowa at Michigan State match-up as the ESPNU “Wildcard” game. The game will be played next Thursday, Feb. 16, at 6:05 p.m. (CST) and will be televised live.

The first contest between the two teams earlier this season proved to be a thriller, as Iowa upset then-No. 9 Michigan State, 75-64, in Iowa City. The game will highlight two of the conference’s top scorers in Iowa senior guard Crystal Smith and Michigan State’s Liz Shimek. Entering this week’s play, the Spartan senior forward is second in the league at 18.5 points per game, while Smith follows closely behind in third at 18.0 per contest.
