THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team will host fifth-ranked Michigan and third-ranked Illinois Saturday. Competition is set to begin at 7 p.m. in the UI Fieldhouse.
LAST WEEK AGAINST OKLAHOMA — The Hawkeyes lost to second-ranked Oklahoma, 212.000-206.650. Michael Reavis finished in the top five in all events except rings. He also set a season best in the all-around with a 54.05.
LAST WEEK AGAINST NEBRASKA — Iowa snuck past 14th-ranked Nebraska, beating them, 209.6-209.45. Jacques Bouchard was the top finisher on rings, scoring 9.4 and Reavis won the all-around (52.7).
LAST YEAR AGAINST MICHIGAN — The Wolverines topped Iowa, 219.2-215.45. Curtis Kleffman was crowned event champion on pommel horse (9.25) and Reavis took second in the all-around (53.624).
LAST YEAR AGAINST ILLINOIS — Despite breaking four school records, the Hawkeyes fell to Illinois, 223.9-226.375. Reavis set a school record of 54.65 on the all-around.
NATIONAL RANKINGS — The Hawkeyes are ranked sixth in the GymInfo national rankings this week. Iowa is 4-4 this season.
HEAD COACH Tom Dunn — Head Coach Tom Dunn is in his 27th year at Iowa. He has compiled a 203-91-2 record. In 1998, Dunn was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and College Gymnast Association Central Region Coach of the Year. He has led the Hawkeyes to 17 top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships. Iowa has competed at the NCAA meet 17 of the past 22 seasons. Dunn has also coached 30 individuals to 62 all-America honors and 20 gymnasts to 32 Big Ten titles.
