The University of Iowa women’s track team took a spring break trip to Coastal Carolina University this weekend. While on the East coast, the Hawkeyes competed in the two-day Shamrock Invitational and came home with several top finishers.
Sophomore Racheal Marchand and junior Shannon Stanley raced to a one-two finish in the 3,000 meter run. Marchand edged out Stanley by just .03 seconds to take first place. The Hawkeyes also captured gold in the 400-meter relay with a time of 46.81. In all, Iowa had 12 athletes finish in the top five of their respective events.
