Hawkeye Coaches Awarded

Iowa’s Head Men’s Gymnastics coach Tom Dunn has been honored as the Central Head Coach of the Year. The announcement came at the College Gymnastics Association Banquet.

Assistant Coach Alex Kolyvanov was named Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Dunn has competed in the national meet 18 of the past 23 seasons. In 1998, he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year and College Gymnast Association Central Regional Coach of the Year. Dunn also earned Big Ten co-Coach of the Year this season and in 1997. Dunn was honored as Midwest Regional Coach of the Year in 1986. Dunn was also co-Coach of the Year in 1976, at his alma mater, Penn State.

This was Kolyvanov’s first coaching award. He is in his 10th year as Iowa’s top assistant coach.

Hawkeye senior Michael Reavis was a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award, given annually to the nation’s outstanding senior gymnast. The Hawkeyes compete Thursday through Saturday in Norman, OK, at the NCAA Championships.
