Hawkeyes Assist Salvation Army

April 21, 2006

The women’s basketball team spent Thursday afternoon assisting the Salvation Army in the Iowa City cleanup after last week’s tornadoes that ripped through the community. Hawkeye players, coaches and support staff volunteered their time in the cleanup effort.

The women hoopsters, along with numerous other Iowa athletes, will participate in the eighth annual “Day of Caring” Sunday afternoon. The student athletes will work with many agencies around the Iowa City area, including the Ronald McDonald House, Greenwood Manor, the Mayor’s Youth Empowerment Program, the Women’s Resource and Action Center, and Local Food Connection.
