The 2006 Drake Relays are off and running and the University of Iowa track team is well represented in the annual four-day event. Four Hawkeyes competed in distance races today under sunny skies on the famous blue track.
Senior Matt Esche placed third in his section of the 5,000 meters in 14:12.07, a college best mark for him. Junior Jeff Kent finished the race in 14:54.85.
The Relays begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with the first Hawkeyes scheduled to compete in the 400-meter relay at approximately 9:30 a.m. Live results can be found at www.drakerelays.org.
