Hawkeye Soccer Adds Transfer From Ball State

May 25, 2006

IOWA CITY – Alison Becker, who played her first three years of collegiate soccer at Ball State, will join the Iowa women’s soccer team for her senior season. Becker was a three-year letterwinner at goalkeeper for the Cardinals.

In 2005, Becker was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Scholar All-Region third team and was a third team All-Great Lakes region selection. The native of Bettendorf, IA, was also a second team all-Mid-American Conference pick and allowed only 11 goals and recorded nine shutouts. Becker led the MAC in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts. She holds Ball State school records for shutouts in a season (9) and career save percentage (0.841).

Becker was a four-year letterwinner at Bettendorf High School where she was both an all-conference and all-state selection. She was also a member of the West Des Moines Odyssey club team that won the Iowa State Cup seven-straight years.

“We are very excited about Alison transferring to Iowa,” Head Coach Ron Rainey said. “The addition of Alison will make the competition for goalkeeper very competitive for the 2006 season.”
