The Iowa women’s basketball team announced today its tournament match-ups for the WBCA Classic and KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge.
The Hawkeyes will open their season November 11-12 at the WBCA Classic in Kansas City, MO. The first round match-ups feature Seton Hall vs. Kansas at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by Missouri State vs. Iowa at 4:30 p.m. The consolation game will tip-off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, while the championship contest will start at 4:30 p.m.
The WBCA Classic will be Iowa’s earliest start in school history. Iowa’s earliest game to date is a contest vs. Texas on November 13, 1980. This will be the Hawkeyes’ first ever appearance in the WBCA Classic.
Iowa will once again host the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge, November 17-18. This year will mark the 21st Iowa tournament, with the Hawkeyes winning 16 of the previous 20. The first round match-ups feature Florida International vs. Florida A&M at 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by Quinnipiac vs. Iowa at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game will start at 5 p.m. on Saturday, while the championship contest will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Game times are central and are subject to change. Iowa’s complete 2006-07 schedule will be released later this summer.
