IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished first place for the third consecutive year after playing 54-holes at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate Sunday. Iowa finished the third round carding a 323 at Finkbine Golf Course. Iowa’s 54-hole total was 933. Missouri State University came in second with a score of 943.
Senior Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) led the Hawkeyes, carding a 228 +12, to finish in second. Junior Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) finished fifth, with an 18 over par, 234. Last year’s medalist, sophomore Tyrette Metzendorf (Winter Haven, FL) finished sixth (235 +19). Team captain and senior Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) placed seventh, carding a 238 +22. Competing as an individual, sophomore Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) rounded out the top ten, carding a 25 over par, 241. Sophomore Becky Quinby (Plymouth, MN) finished 24th (252 +36).
Iowa competes next weekend at the Lady Northern Invitational in Columbus, OH.
