THIS WEEK — The women’s golf team travels to East Lansing, MI, Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Lady Northern Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par-72 Forest Akers West Golf Course. Teams will play 36 holes Saturday and 18 Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start each day.

THE COMPETITION — Ten of the 11 Big Ten schools will compete. The 12 competing teams include: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Toledo and Wisconsin.

LINEUP — Six players will compete with the lowest four counting. Competing for the Hawkeyes will be Karla Murra, Jill Marcum, Tyrette Metzendorf, Amy Riepma, Melanie Boyles, and Becky Quinby.

LAST COMPETITION — Iowa won the Hawkeye Intercollegiate for the third consecutive year, with a score of 933 through 54-holes. Murra finished second (228 +12). Five Hawkeyes finished in the top ten.

LADY NORTHERN HISTORY — The Hawkeyes finished 10th at the Lady Northern Invite last fall. Iowa posted a score of 925 at the 54-hole tournament. Marcum carded a 13-over par, 229, to finish tied for 23rd.

HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford — In her first year as Iowa’s Head Coach, Kelly Crawford hopes to improve Iowa’s record in the Big Ten. Crawford was victorious in her first appearance as Iowa’s head coach by virtue of a title in the Hawkeye Intercollegiate last week.
