IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa volleyball team will host three, hour-long volleyball clinics this fall with their Little Spikers program. The first two Little Spikers sessions will be held on Setpember 23 and October 21 at 9 a.m. in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The final session will be held on November 25 at 9 a.m. at the University of Iowa Field House.
The Little Spikers program is open to girls and boys ages 5-11. Children are taught volleyball basics by the Hawkeye coaches and players, using special lightweight training volleyballs and a lower net. The Little Spikers will get a chance to demonstrate their skills following game two of the final home match against Michigan on November 25.
“We started the Little Spikers program at Iowa last season, and it was a great success,” Iowa Head Coach Cindy Fredrick said. “It is a great way for the volleyball program to give back to the community, while getting the next generation of Hawkeyes interested in volleyball.”
Registration is $15, which covers all three sessions and includes a Hawkeye Volleyball t-shirt.
Anyone interested in the Little Spikers program can get a registration form on the volleyball page of Hawkeyesports.com. Anyone with questions can call 319/335-9259 or e-mail iowavolleyball@uiowa.edu for more information.
