Iowa Announces Hawkeye Legends Event

Sept. 27, 2006

IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame & Museum will be celebrating Homecoming weekend with a special event open to all Hawkeye fans. Players and coaches from three of the most celebrated Hawkeye football teams, the 1956-1958 and 1981 Rose Bowl teams, have been invited back to Iowa City to celebrate their 50th and 25th anniversaries, respectively.

These teams represent the success under Head Coach Forest Evashevski, which include two Rose Bowl victories and a national championship, and Head Coach Hayden Fry’s first Rose Bowl team that began Iowa’s return to national prominence.

Players and coaches from these teams will be at the Roy G. Karro Hall of Fame Friday October 6 from 1:30-3 p.m.

The Hall of Fame will be open Friday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission to both the “Hawkeye Legends” event and the Hall of Fame is free.
