Dolphin: The View from the Press Box

Nov. 4, 2006

IOWA CITY — Gary Dolphin offers his view on Jake Christensen and the bowl-eligible Iowa Hawkeyes and today’s football game against the Northwestern Wildcats in this week’s installment of Dolph’s “View from the Press Box,” an audio feature now available inside Hawkeye All-Access , the multi-media area of hawkesports.com.

“Jake knows that his time his coming,” said Dolphin, who noted that the strong-armed freshman knows this is Drew Tate’s team and sun could shine full-time on him beginning next year.

Dolphin says Iowa’s defense continues to get better, the offense continues to get healthy and it’s probably a good time for the Hawkeyes’ special teams to get back on track.

“Kick coverage and punt return units need to do some serious soul searching,” said Dolphin.

The radio voice of the Hawkeyes also nodded in acknowledgement the members of the new media “Wall of Fame” that was installed last weekend inside the Paul W. Brechler Press Box at Kinnick Stadium.

“A very classy thing for former UI Athletic Director Bob Bowlsby and the UI to do,” he said.

The Hawkeyes and Wildcats tee it up at 11 a.m. at Kinnick. The game is sold out – the 23rd straight sellout of a home game of the Hawkeyes and will mark the return to the starting lineup of senior quarterback Drew Tate, who missed last week’s 24-14 victory over Northern Illinois after having surgery on his left thumb.
