IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa volleyball team has announced that it will hold six instructional camps this summer for players of a variety of ages.
The following camps are available for young players who wish to receive instruction from Hawkeye players and coaches:
Middle School Day Camp – June 18-19th, 9am-4pm (lunch included) is for players with some volleyball experience entering grades 6-8. Cost is $70/person. Location will be at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
Elementary Day Camp – June 20-21st, 9am-Noon is for players without volleyball experience entering grades 4-6. Lightweight volleyballs and low net will be used. Cost is $40/person. Location will be at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
Individual Open Camp – July 22-25th is for players with playing experience ages 12-18. Cost is $330 for resident and $255 for commuter.
Team Camp – July 26-27th is open to all high school teams. The cost is $50/person or $400/team, whichever is greater. This is a team camp structured to meet the needs of those high school coaches who are preparing their teams for a successful season. Registration will be expedited. Our 2006 Team Camps boasted 22 teams that advanced to post-season play with 3 teams advancing to state and two of those teams finishing as State Champions.
Positional Day Camp (libero and defensive specialist) – July 28th, 9am-4pm is for players age 13-18 interested in learning advanced defensive skills for back row play. Cost is $60/person
Positional Day Camp (outside hitter) – July 29th, 9am-4pm is for players age 13-18 interested in learning either right side or left side advanced offensive skills along the net as well as defensive skills in the back row. Cost is $60/person.
