The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a highly-motivated, creative, individual with outstanding communications skills and an appreciation of the power of new technologies to advance the outreach efforts of the department and its 24 varsity sports programs. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with full University benefits.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and contributing to the content of the department’s multiple world wide web sites including, the award-winning official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes; will contribute to the planning and execution of marketing, public relations, advertising, promotions, and media relations initiatives of the department; and will assist the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in all activities related to the introduction and on-campus administration of the new Big Ten Conference Television Network.

Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting or another related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one to three years of experience in media production, marketing and/or communications; excellent oral and written communications skills and effective project management skills; and a strong recognition of the importance of new and emerging media as communications/outreach tools required. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; three years of experience in intercollegiate athletics marketing and/or communications, radio and television highly desired, and a basic understanding of computer hardware and software preferred.
