ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
Director, New Media
[University classification – Program Associate, PA3008]

The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a highly-motivated, creative, individual with outstanding communications skills and an appreciation of the power of new technologies to advance the outreach efforts of the department and its 24 varsity sports programs. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with full University benefits.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and contributing to the content of the department’s multiple world wide web sites including hawkeyesports.com, the award-winning official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes; will contribute to the planning and execution of marketing, public relations, advertising, promotions, and media relations initiatives of the department; and will assist the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in all activities related to the introduction and on-campus administration of the new Big Ten Conference Television Network.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting or another related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one to three years of experience in media production, marketing and/or communications; excellent oral and written communications skills and effective project management skills; and a strong recognition of the importance of new and emerging media as communications/outreach tools required. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; three years of experience in intercollegiate athletics marketing and/or communications, radio and television highly desired, and a basic understanding of computer hardware and software preferred.
