July 9, 2007

IOWA CITY – Sales of single game tickets to four of the six home games of the 2007 University of Iowa football team will go on sale Tuesday, July 10, the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced today.

Tickets to all home games of the 2007 Iowa Hawkeyes to be played at historic Kinnick Stadium except Iowa’s home season opener Sept. 8 against Syracuse and the Hawkeyes’ Oct. 13 game against Illinois will go on sale via hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes, at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Over-the-counter sales at the UI Athletics Ticket Office located in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and telephone sales via 1-800 IA-HAWKS will begin at 9 a.m.

Sales of tickets to the Syracuse and Illinois games have been suspended to allow for the sale of season tickets. Single-game tickets to those games will go on sale in early August if tickets are available to sell.

Sales of tickets to the Syracuse and Illinois games have been suspended to allow for the sale of season tickets. Single-game tickets to those games will go on sale in early August if tickets are available to sell.

Fans of the Hawkeyes will be limited to purchases of a maximum of eight tickets for Iowa’s games against Big Ten Conference opponents Indiana (Homecoming, Sept. 29), Michigan State (Oct. 27) and Minnesota (Nov. 10). There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased for the Hawkeyes’ Nov. 17 game against Western Michigan.

Tickets purchased on a single-game basis for home games of the 2007 Hawkeyes cost $50. A limited number of youth tickets priced at $25 each are available for Iowa’s game against Western Michigan.

A limited number of season tickets for purchase by the general public and/or UI faculty and staff, and three-game ticket packages are also available. Season tickets earmarked for sale to current UI students are also on sale; the UI expects to sell all 10,400 of those tickets.

Fans of the Hawkeyes interested in purchasing more than 30 tickets to a home game of the 2007 Iowa Hawkeyes are invited to consider the purchase of discounted group tickets that are paired with game-day hospitality inside Hawkeye Village. For more information about group tickets and game-day hospitality options, fans should call either the UI Sports Marketing Office at (319) 335-9431 or Bravo Sports Marketing at (319) 626-8286.

The UI has already sold more than 45,900 season tickets to the general public and UI faculty and staff. That total is greater than what was sold a year ago and includes a sellout of all the premium seating opportunities inside the Paul W. Brechler Press Box. The UI anticipates total season ticket sales – the total of season tickets sold to the general public, UI faculty, UI staff and UI students – to exceed 56,500 in 2007.

Iowa will enter the 2007 college football season with a string of 24 consecutive sellouts of historic Kinnick Stadium, a streak that included a record-setting attendance year in 2006 based on seven sellout crowds of 70,535 spectators each.

The Hawkeyes’ 2007 home season opener against Syracuse will kick off at 7 p.m. Iowa time and will be televised live and in high definition to a national television audience by the Big Ten Network. UI officials expect that game to be the first of six more sellouts at Kinnick.

The Iowa-Syracuse game will be played one week after the Hawkeyes’ 2007 season opener against Northern Illinois in Chicago’s Soldier Field. UI and Northern Illinois officials expect that game to reach sellout status as early as this week. Kickoff on Sept. 1 is set for shortly after 2 p.m. Iowa time. That game will be televised live to a national television audience by ESPNU.
