MILWAUKEE, WI – The Hawkeye soccer team stepped out of conference play temporarily on Friday, visiting UW-Milwaukee to play the Panthers to a scoreless draw. The draw extends Iowa’s unbeaten streak to eight matches, with their last loss coming nearly one month ago to then-No. 23 Missouri.
The Hawkeyes were closely matched with the Panthers statistically, but could not take advantage of five offside penalties and 17 fouls that UW-Milwaukee committed. Sophomore Alexandria Seydel led the Hawkeyes with three shots, including one shot on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Lindsey Boldt, playing a mere six miles from her hometown of Wauwatosa, WI, notched her Big Ten-leading sixth shutout of the season. Boldt corralled five saves.
Junior Kelsey Shaw ended with two shots on goal, but her header in the 108th minute was wrapped up by UW-Milwaukee goalkeeper Erin Kane.
With the draw, Iowa’s record stands at 6-1-4 and ties a 2005 school record for most draws in a season. The Hawkeyes head back into Big Ten play for the rest of the season this Sunday as they visit Illinois. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
