Hawkeyes to Host Summer Camp

Feb. 11, 2008

The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics will host its annual summer camp July 13-17, 2008. The camp is for beginners and elite male gymnasts ages 10 to 18. Campers will utilize the University of Iowa men’s gymnastics training facility in the North Gym of the Field House.

Head Coach Tom Dunn and Assistant Coaches, Dmitri Trouch and Alexandre Kolyvanov will assist campers in improving on each of the six men’s events each day through small training groups.

With an Iowa record of 210-107-2, Dunn has led the Hawkeyes to 19 top-ten finishes in the NCAA Championships, and has competed in the national meet 19 of the past 24 seasons. In 2006 Kolyvanov was named Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Trouch completed his athletic career with a gold medal in the 1996 summer Olympic Games. Additional staff will consist of current and former Iowa gymnasts.

“The Hawkeye Boy’s Gymnastics Camp is for any boy who has a desire to improve his gymnastics and experience the University of Iowa training environment,” said Trouch. “Beginners and elite gymnasts who are willing to attempt all six men’s events each day are welcome. Campers will work hard in the gym but will have time to relax, swim, play basketball or use other university recreational facilities.”

Applications and non-refundable $100 deposits are due May 15. Enrollment is limited. Cost of attendance is $400 for residents, including room and board, and $310 for commuters.
