IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta today announced a one year extension to Iowa Football Coach Kirk Ferentz’ contract. Ferentz is beginning his 10th year as Hawkeye football coach.
Ferentz’ new contract will run thru the 2012 football season. The one year extension agreement did not change any other terms of the contract. Ferentz, a two time, Big Ten Coach of the Year, has a 61-49 record with the Hawkeyes. His nine-year stay has included two league titles and first-division Big Ten finishes in six of the past seven years.
“During the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to observe, firsthand, Kirk’s leadership, coaching expertise and his integrity,” said Barta. “He’s a proven winner and he’s a proven winner at the University of Iowa. I have every confidence in his ability to lead the Hawkeyes into the future.”
