Hawkeye Golden Girl Claims Honors

IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Golden Girl Chelsea Russell represented the Hawkeyes this past weekend at the Iowa State Baton Twirling Championships and won numerous awards. Russell, in her first year as Golden Girl, was named the Iowa State strut, solo, two-baton, rhythmic twirl, and collegiate solo champion.

Russell is also the overall Iowa State Grand Strut and Solo Champion and several of her performances had no “drops”.

The Williamsville, NY, native has competed both nationally and internationally, while winning numerous awards and titles. Russell was named Miss Majorette of America in 2006 and was the 2006 U.S.A. Champion in solo baton, two-baton, three-baton, rhythmic twirl and strut.
