THIS WEEK — The University of Iowa men’s golf team will travel to Columbus, OH, Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Kepler Intercollegiate. The tournament is hosted by Ohio State University and will be held at the University’s Scarlet Course. Competition consists of 54 holes. Teams will play 36 holes Saturday (8:30 a.m. shotgun start) and 18 holes Sunday (8:30 a.m. tee times). Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
SCARLET COURSE — The Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club is the site of the tournament. It is a par 71 with a length of 7,455 yards.
THE COMPETITION — Teams competing, with Iowa, are Colorado, Furman, Kent State, Louisville, Marshall, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, SMU, UNC-Wilmington and Wisconsin.

*Freshman James Reiss will be seeing his first action of the year. Reiss is a freshman from Aldeburgh, England.
LAST MEET — The Hawkeyes finished 13th at the 2008 National Invitational Tournament with a 54-hole score of 885(+21). Junior Cole Peevler led the Hawkeyes, finishing tied for seventh overall with a score of 213 (-3). Peevler was one of 15 individuals to finish the tournament under-par. Senior Dan Holterhaus finished tied for 21st with a 218(+2) and freshman Vince India posted a 223(+7).
HEAD COACH Mark Hankins — Hankins is in his first year as Iowa’s head men’s golf coach. He was named Big Ten Coach of the Year, at Michigan State, in 2005 and 2007 after leading the Spartans to Big Ten Championships. Hankins also led the Spartans to five NCAA tournament appearances in his seven years as head coach. He is a native of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and a graduate of Iowa State University.
